Am I the only one who dropped $55 on a gooseneck kettle and now my drip coffee tastes worse?
I grabbed a gooseneck kettle for $55 at a shop in Portland last month thinking it would fix my pour over game. Turns out I was pouring way too slow, so my water temp dropped to like 185 by the time I finished, and the cup came out sour and flat. Two weeks of bad coffee later I checked with a thermometer and realized the problem was me, not my old kettle or my grinder. I went back to just dumping water in fast with my $12 kettle and somehow it tastes better. Now the fancy one sits on my shelf looking pretty while I feel like a fool. Did anyone else buy gear before they fixed their own technique, or am I alone here?
