The bloom phase is the most skipped step on this whole forum

I watch people on here brag about their pour over setup and then dump 200 degrees of water straight onto fresh beans without letting it puff up for even 20 seconds, is that just a patience thing or does nobody actually taste the difference?

Skip the bloom and you're just pouring water on rocks. 20 seconds changes everything. The gas release kicks off extraction. I taste cardboard vs. actual fruit notes. It's not patience, it's laziness.
