Update: found out my drip machine runs at 165 degrees and I've been drinking half brewed coffee for a year
I got a cheap thermometer last week and stuck it in the water coming out of my drip brewer mid cycle. It read 165 F. Coffee needs to hit somewhere between 195 and 205 to pull the good stuff out, so I've basically been drinking warm brown water this entire time. I checked the manual online and my model is known for running cold, lots of people on a repair forum in Ohio complained about the same thing. I switched to pouring a kettle over the same grounds in a cone and the difference was huge, same beans, same grind, night and day in the cup. Now I'm wondering how many people are blaming their beans when their machine is the real problem. Has anyone else tested the temp on their drip maker, and did yours come out low too?
