Dropped $90 on a fancy coffee grinder and it changed my mornings way more than I expected

I finally ditched my old blade grinder for a baratza encore after reading about it for like 6 months. The first morning I used it my coffee tasted way less bitter and more smooth, and now I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my kettle too. Has anyone else found that a good grinder makes that big of a difference or am I just being dramatic lol?

Honestly man, you're not being dramatic at all. The grinder is probably the single biggest upgrade you can make, it's wild how much it changes the taste. But I gotta say, the kettle thing is a whole different rabbit hole. You don't need some fancy gooseneck one unless you're doing pour over, and even then a cheap one works fine as long as you can control the temp. So yeah, hold off on the kettle unless you're sure you actually need it.

@hill.david you make a fair point about the kettle, but I wonder how many people actually regret going cheap on one. A buddy of mine bought a $20 electric kettle with no temperature control, and he ends up boiling it and letting it sit for five minutes to cool down before pouring. Seems like a pain. Was it really that big of a difference when you swapped to something with temp control, or is that more of a nice to have than a game changer?
