Dropped $95 on a "smart" coffee scale that made my pour overs worse
So about two months ago I got it in my head that my pour overs were inconsistent and a fancy scale with an app would fix everything. I paid $95 for one of those Bluetooth scales that graphs your pour rate in real time on your phone. Used it for three weeks and honestly my coffee got worse. I was so busy staring at the little curve on my screen that I stopped paying attention to the actual pour, and the app kept disconnecting mid brew so I'd lose the whole log anyway. The kicker is my old $22 scale with a timer still works fine and I never once thought about it while brewing. I boxed the smart one up on a Tuesday and it's been sitting in my cabinet since. If anyone in the Chicago area wants it cheap, hit me up, because I'm done with coffee gadgets that need a firmware update. Did a fancy scale actually help any of you, or did I just fall for the marketing?
