Friend told me my morning coffee routine was 'overcomplicated'

Last Saturday my buddy Dave watched me do my whole pour-over setup with the scale, gooseneck kettle, and thermometer and just laughed. He said I was acting like a lab tech for a basic cup of coffee. I got defensive at first but then tried his method where he just eyeballs the water temp and pours straight from a regular kettle. Honestly it tasted the same and saved me like 8 minutes. Has anyone else had a coffee snob moment that someone totally deflated?

Haha, yep I was the same way with my French press routine. Timers, grinding beans by hand, the whole deal. Then my brother just dumped grounds in a mug with hot water and it was basically the same. Felt like a dork for weeks.
