Hot take: I used to think a French press was the only way to get a real cup, but my brother in Seattle got me a V60 for my birthday.

Now I'm weighing beans and timing pours, and honestly the clarity is better. Anyone else completely switch their main brew method after a specific push?

My local coffee shop owner told me she switched from a French press to a Chemex three years ago and never looked back. She said the cleaner cup just suited her taste more for everyday drinking. I tried a pour over at her place and it really did taste brighter. It's funny how one good experience can make you change your whole routine.

Hold up, you're all chasing clarity and brightness now? What about a coffee that actually feels like coffee, something with body and weight to it? All this pour over stuff just makes a thin, tea-like drink to me. My French press gives me that rich, full flavor I actually want in the morning. Isn't the whole ritual supposed to be about enjoying what you drink, not just making a science project?

That's how most hobbies level up.
