My French press carafe cracked right before my morning brew
It happened yesterday at 6:30 AM, just as I poured the boiling water in. I heard a small pop and saw a hairline crack running down the side. I had to quickly pour the whole mess into a big mixing bowl to save the grounds and water! I finished the steep there and strained it through a clean kitchen towel into my mug. It actually worked in a pinch, but I'm definitely in the market for a new press now. Has anyone else had a carafe break, and what's a good sturdy brand that can handle the heat?

Oh man, that's the WORST timing! Just a heads up, you should actually let the water cool for a minute after boiling before pouring it in. Boiling water can shock the glass. My Bodum has held up for years since I started doing that.

Wait, does that minute really make a difference? I've always just dumped it straight in and hoped for the best. Maybe my luck is running out.

Read that letting it cool helps avoid a bitter taste too.
