My local shop in Charlotte changed their house blend and it's just not the same
I went in on Tuesday morning like I always do, ordered my usual medium roast, and the whole thing tasted flat. I asked the barista, and she said they switched suppliers about a week ago to save some money. The new beans are from a different region and the roast profile is way lighter. It's missing that deep, chocolatey note I loved. Has anyone else's go-to spot done this and found a good replacement blend?

Try their cold brew, sometimes it hides bad beans.

Have you checked if any other shops in Charlotte use the same roaster they switched to? I heard those lighter roasts can sometimes work better for pour-overs if you ask them to brew it that way.

Ugh, that's the worst. My spot in Raleigh did the same thing last year. I just started buying whole beans from a different local roaster and making it at home. It took a few tries to find one with a similar dark, smoky flavor, but it was cheaper in the long run anyway. I still go to the cafe sometimes, but I don't buy their house blend anymore.
