PSA: Don't cheap out on a coffee grinder like I did

Bought a $25 blade grinder off Amazon 6 months ago and my coffee tasted like burnt dirt no matter what beans I used. Just got a $100 burr grinder last week and holy crap the difference is insane. Even cheap beans taste better now. Anyone else waste money on a bad grinder before realizing?

oh man i feel your pain on a spiritual level. i did the same thing a few years back, got one of those cheap blade grinders and thought i was being smart. but then i realized i was basically just smashing my beans into a million different sized pieces instead of grinding them. it was like my morning coffee was a lottery every day, sometimes bitter, sometimes sour. my buddy finally let me try his burr grinder and i felt so dumb for fighting against good coffee for so long. you ever try making a pour over with that new grinder yet?

Yeah I was the same way honestly. Used to think spending more than fifty bucks on a grinder was ridiculous. Thought people were just being pretentious about coffee. Then I got a blade grinder as a gift and figured hey free is free. Drank that burnt inconsistent sludge for months telling myself it was fine. Finally broke down and got a cheap burr grinder and yeah I was dead wrong. It's not even about fancy beans or whatever it's just the grinder itself making everything taste clean.
