Showerthought: I think people overhype the Chemex compared to a basic V60
I did a side by side test for a month, brewing the same Ethiopian beans with both. The Chemex filters are so thick they strip out a lot of the oils and bright notes. My V60 brews, with standard Hario filters, consistently had more flavor and a cleaner finish. I timed a dozen cups and the V60 was also faster by about 45 seconds for the same pour. It's not that the Chemex is bad, but for the price and the result, the V60 is just more efficient. Has anyone else found they prefer a simpler pour over setup?

Used to think Chemex was king, but you're right.

Welcome to the other side, the coffee's better over here. The Chemex is a fine museum piece, but it's just not practical every day. Hard to argue with results from something simpler.

That glass carafe is a morning ritual, not a museum piece.
