Spent 90 minutes trying to dial in a new espresso blend

Picked up a bag of beans from a local roaster last week and couldn't get a decent shot out of them no matter what I tried. Turns out I was grinding way too fine because the beans were darker than what I usually buy. Has anyone else run into a simple variable throwing off their whole routine for way longer than it should have?

Holy cow, ninety minutes? I would have chucked the whole setup out the window after twenty.

My neighbor Tim actually threw his whole router in the trash after fifteen minutes.
