Stop grinding your beans the night before, it ruins everything

I keep seeing people on here say they grind their coffee the night before to save time in the morning. That is a huge mistake and I learned it the hard way after 6 months of wondering why my morning brew tasted flat and dusty. Coffee starts losing its flavor within like 30 minutes of grinding because all the good oils hit the air and start going stale. I actually tested this by grinding a batch at 10 PM and then brewing another fresh grind at 6 AM the next day. The fresh grind was brighter, had more smell, and actually woke me up proper. The pre-ground stuff just tasted like old cardboard with a hint of bitterness. Why would you go through the trouble of buying whole beans just to ruin them by grinding early? Has anyone else done a side by side test on this or am I the only one who noticed?

...and you're absolutely right about the oils going stale that quickly. I did the same test you did a few years back after my wife complained her coffee tasted flat, and the difference in aroma alone was night and day. If you really need to save time in the morning, just weigh your beans out the night before and keep them in the airtight container until you hit the grinder.

@black.mark hit it. Pre-weighing the night before takes zero effort and fixes everything.
