The $9 burr grinder at a yard sale in Fresno that made me rethink my whole setup
I stopped at a yard sale off Shaw Ave in Fresno 4 months ago just to kill time, and this older guy had a little hand grinder sitting on a folding table for $9. I almost walked past it because my electric setup cost way more and I figured why bother. He saw me looking and said "try it with beans you already like before you judge it," which honestly stuck with me. So I took it home and cranked out a batch one morning, and the cup was just... clearer? Like I could actually taste the difference between the fruity notes and the bitter stuff at the end, which I never got from my old blade grinder. Turns out the blade thing was chopping beans into dust and chunks at the same time, and I had blamed my beans for a year. Now I use the hand grinder most mornings even though it takes about 90 seconds of cranking. Curious if anyone else here switched to a hand grinder and noticed the same thing, or if I'm just fooling myself because it was cheap.
