The barista at my local shop changed how I order coffee

There's this guy at Brew House on Main Street who's been pouring for like 8 years. Last Tuesday I walked in and ordered my usual dark roast black. He just gave me this look and said 'you're missing the point, try this Ethiopia single origin instead.' I was skeptical but he practically dared me to take a sip. That first taste was like someone flipped a switch in my brain - all these fruit notes and a clean finish I never got from my go-to dark roast. He spent 10 minutes explaining how different roasts bring out different things, didn't rush me even with a line forming. I spent $6 on that cup but it was worth it to stop being one of those guys who orders the same thing out of habit. Anyone else have a barista call them out on their boring order?

Man, I totally get that feeling. It's wild how we just lock into a routine and forget there's a whole world of flavor out there. Good for you for taking that barista's advice and actually trying something new.

@jasonc50 the same thing happens with music rotation, suddenly remember some old album and wonder why you stopped listening to it lol
