The battle between a regular drip maker and a French press for my morning routine

I've been using a $30 Mr. Coffee drip machine for years, but last month I switched to a French press after a friend swore by it for flavor. The press gives me a richer cup but takes 5 extra minutes of my time and leaves sludge at the bottom. For those of you who made a similar switch, did the taste difference outweigh the hassle for you?

That sludge is exactly why I went back to drip. Dripped coffee (especially with a paper filter) just feels cleaner and easier to chug down without chewing your last sip.

Is it really that serious though? I mean, we're talking about coffee, not a life or death decision. I get that the French press tastes a little better, but the sludge at the bottom drives me nuts and cleaning that mesh filter is a pain. I guess if you're the type who notices every little difference in flavor, the extra 5 minutes might be worth it. But for me, that sludge and the extra cleanup just isn't worth some tiny taste difference. Most days I just want my caffeine and I'm out the door.
