Vent: My friend called my morning routine 'a bit much' and it really got under my skin
So my buddy was over last weekend and watched me make my morning coffee. I was just doing my normal thing, weighing the beans, timing the bloom, you know. He just sat there and after I poured the water he goes, 'Man, you know you can just push a button on a machine, right? This seems like a bit much.' It happened right there in my kitchen. I didn't say anything back, just handed him his mug. But it stuck with me. It's not about being fancy, it's about the five minutes of quiet focus before the day starts. That routine is my thing. He drank it and said it was good, but the comment just sat there. Has anyone else had someone just not get why you do the little steps?

Watched my cousin get the same reaction for grinding fresh spices for his chili. People just don't get the quiet part of the process.

Right? @sandragonzalez, it's the best part! My buddy looked at me like I had two heads for toasting whole cumin seeds before grinding them. The smell alone is half the meal! People miss how those quiet steps build the flavor. They just want the quick powder from a jar, but that fresh crackle changes everything.
