Switched our shop's payroll from a national service to a local Denver bookkeeper and the cost gap was wild
We run a small woodworking shop in Denver with 6 employees and were paying around $180 a month to one of those big online payroll companies. I sat down with a bookkeeper off South Broadway last month and she charges us $95 a month for the same thing plus she catches stuff the software never flagged. The big difference is she actually knows Colorado rules, like the state FAMLI stuff that the online service kept getting wrong and we didn't even notice. Has anyone else moved payroll to a local person, and did it hold up once your headcount changed?
