Heard a kid at the shop say Silver Age comics are overrated

I was at Midtown Comics on 42nd Street last weekend flipping through the $1 bin and this teenager says to his friend that Silver Age stuff has bad art and corny stories. I get it from a modern view but those books built everything. They had Stan and Jack doing world building with no internet to spoil things. Made me wonder what comics from today will hold up in 40 years.

That kid would probably lose his mind if he saw the original cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 going for $29,000 at a convention. These kids don't realize they're standing on the shoulders of dudes in loud suits drawing stories about bank robberies and guys turning into sand. I was digging through some old Fantastic Four issues the other day and the art is genuinely charming in a way modern digital stuff just can't capture. But hey, in 40 years some kid will probably call the current Ultimate run overrated too. Circle of life I guess.

$29,000 for that cover... I saw a beat-up copy of Fantastic Four #1 sell for way more than that a few years back at a garage sale, of all places, and @luna_craig58 is right about the charm of those old hand-drawn panels.
