Pro tip: I used to keep all my comics in a cardboard box under my bed
After a pipe burst in my apartment last winter, I lost about 30 books from the early 2000s. Now I use those BCW plastic bins, and the first thing I packed was my 'Amazing Spider-Man' run. What's the best way you've found to protect a collection from random disasters?

Ever think about how many people's collections get saved by pure luck? My buddy's entire basement flooded, but his old record crates were up on milk crates, so only the bottom one got wrecked. He still calls it his dumbest smart move.

Pure luck" feels like a stretch here. He put them on milk crates on purpose, so that's a basic precaution, not a miracle. It's just one crate of records, not like he saved a museum from a fire.
