That guy at the comic shop who laughed at my book
I was at Big City Comics on 34th Street last Saturday flipping through a new Batman issue when this older guy walked up and told me I was wasting my money on 'the corporate stuff.' He then handed me a beat-up copy of a 1986 indie comic and said this is what real fandom looks like. Has anyone else had a random collector lecture them about their reading choices?

Did you at least get a free comic out of the deal?

My buddy Marcus had basically the same thing happen at a shop in Evanston last year. Some guy in a denim vest pulled a yellowed copy of Cerebus out of his bag and told Marcus that's what real comics look like, not his Deadpool trade. Marcus just nodded, took the book, and then bought two more Deadpool issues right in front of the guy. Did you keep the indie comic they gave you or toss it?
