That moment I realized I'd been sorting comics wrong for 20 years

I've filed by publisher then alphabetical since I was 12. Last week at a local con a dealer pulled out a longbox and showed me his system - alphabetical by character team first, then year. Blew my mind. How do you guys sort your collection - by event, writer, or something else weird?

Used to sort strictly by publisher then issue number but a buddy showed me his chronological by publication date system and honestly it makes finding crossovers way easier... Now I'm tempted to redo my whole longbox setup even if it takes a weekend.

Alphabetical by character last name. No joke, my X-Men stuff is under 'X' but Wolverine stuff goes under 'H'. It gets messy when a character switches teams. Your con dealer's system sounds good on paper but try finding a specific Wolverine issue from 1986 when he was on three teams at once. I stick with what works even if it looks chaotic to other people. Keep your system simple unless you enjoy alphabetizing more than reading.
