That time a dude at a comic con gatekept me for not knowing the exact issue number of a variant cover

I was at the Portland Comic Expo last year flipping through a longbox and this guy next to me goes 'you dont even know what that is do you' about a Batman #423 variant. I just looked at him and said 'nope, but I know it cost me $3 and thats all that matters' and walked off. Anyone else get tired of fans acting like you need a photographic memory just to browse?

Oh man, I feel this in my soul! I once had a guy at a flea market try to quiz me on the paper quality of a 90s X-Men comic. I was like 'buddy, I'm just here because the cover has Gambit looking cool and I'm old enough to remember when that was peak fashion.' My memory is so bad I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, let alone variant issue numbers. I just want to look at pictures of superheroes without a pop quiz.
