Used to hit the comic shop every Wednesday without fail, now I do all my pulls online
Ngl, back in high school I made the trek to Golden Apple Comics on Melrose every Wednesday for like 4 years straight. Now I just let my pull list auto ship from mycomicshop every month and I barely browse the shelves anymore. I kinda miss flipping through the dollar bins and talking to the cashier about what came out that week. Does anyone else feel like the whole social side of being a comic fan faded away after COVID?

Stood in line at my local shop for 2 hours on New Comic Book Day during the pandemic just to grab my pulls from a table outside in the rain. Felt like I was picking up a secret package from a spy. Now I just click "buy" on my phone while I'm sitting on the toilet and it shows up at my door three days later. Honestly, the only social interaction I get now is arguing with the FedEx guy about why he left my X-Men #25 in a puddle.

Get my email notification that my preorder shipped, then spend the next week refreshing the tracking page like it's going to change something. When it finally says "delivered" but it's not on my porch, I start doing laps around the block checking under bushes. My girlfriend caught me shaking a box from Midtown Comics the other day like a kid on Christmas morning. I still go to conventions twice a year to get that feeling back, but it's not the same as flipping through new issues with people who actually read them.
