Watched a buddy go from trade paperbacks to single issues in 3 months flat

My friend Mark always bought the big collected editions, you know the thick ones with 12 issues in them. Then he started going to this shop called Comic Nexus in Portland and the owner talked him into pulling a few ongoing series. Three months later his pull box has 15 titles and he says he can't go back to waiting for the trade. He keeps telling me the monthly cliffhangers are way more exciting, but I wonder if he actually remembers what happened two issues ago. DAE find that the wait between single issues kills the momentum of a story?

Honestly had a buddy who swore by trades for years, then he picked up one issue of Saga and next thing I knew he had a monthly subscription and a stack of longboxes in his garage. He says the wait between issues makes him remember details better somehow? But ngl I saw him last week and he couldn't tell me what happened in the last chapter he read.

Isn't that just how we convince ourselves fast food is better than a home-cooked meal?
