Watch me use a chipping hammer wrong for 6 months" - that says more about your foreman than it does about you. He probably figured you'd either figure it out or ask someone. Foremen are busy, they got their own headaches, and a lot of them think "not my problem" when it comes to teaching. Plus, if you weren't breaking anything or hurting yourself, he might've just let it slide. I've seen guys use crescent wrenches as hammers for years before a boss said something. The real problem is most sites have zero onboarding for basic tool use. They just throw you at the job and hope you sink or swim.

Crescent wrenches as hammers" - you're kidding me. I've been around construction for a while and I still can't believe someone would let that slide for years, that's a special kind of patience or maybe just laziness from management. But I guess if nobody's getting hurt or sued, a lot of foremen figure it's not worth their time to say anything.
