Changed my mind on wood studs for interior office walls after a job in Boise
I used to frame every interior office wall with wood studs because that's how my old boss in Boise did it for 15 years. Last spring we did a 12,000 sq ft tenant build out and the drywall guy kept complaining about wavy walls, so we switched to steel studs on the next floor. The laser came out dead straight, no crowning, no shimming, and we hung 40 sheets faster than the wood side. Now I bid steel on anything over 8 feet tall. Anybody else made the swap or am I late to this party?
