My concrete over-order turned the site dumpster into a permanent sculpture
Started double-checking my truck tickets after that job, and now I never have leftover material to haul away.

Heard about a guy who over-ordered for a patio and wound up with a surprise sidewalk section to his tool shed. That stuff sets up FAST, zero take-backs. Now I picture your dumpster like some modern art piece in a scrapyard, all rough edges and rebar poking out. Makes you triple-check every cubic yard on the order sheet forever after.

Yeah, that panic when you see the last of the chute hit and there's still a pile left is something else. What saved me was calling the concrete company dispatch right from the site. Sometimes they have another pour nearby that's short and can send a truck over in minutes to take the extra off your hands before it turns. I got lucky once and they redirected about half a yard to a neighbor's foundation repair.

Watching my dad build our deck taught me that same lesson. He'd buy way too many nails or an extra bundle of shingles every single time, and our garage became a weird museum of leftover projects. It creates this permanent, slightly guilty proof that your math was off, just sitting there for years.
