My concrete sub on a Phoenix strip mall got torn apart for poor vapor barrier sealing

The inspector said 'Your taped seams will fail in a year with this heat' and made me redo the entire 15,000 sq ft barrier with fluid-applied sealant. Has anyone else had to switch methods after a failed inspection, and did the new way actually hold up better?

Okay but what if the inspector had a point? Phoenix heat is a whole different beast, it destroys stuff that works fine elsewhere. That tape adhesive dries out and turns to dust. I've seen it happen in under two years on a slab here. The fluid stuff might be a pain but it bonds right to the concrete, no seam to split open. Sometimes the old way just isn't the right way for the place you're in.

Taped seams can last for years if they're done right in the first place.
