My old super at the Peachtree tower job said never trust a concrete pour on a Friday, and 14 years later I still think about it
Back in 2010 I was a junior super on a 22 story office build in Atlanta and this old guy named Ray who had been pouring concrete since the 70s told me to never schedule a major deck pour on a Friday afternoon. I laughed it off at the time and we pushed a 400 yard pour on a Friday anyway, and sure enough the pump truck broke down at 3pm and half the crew bailed early for the weekend. We ended up with a cold joint that had to get chipped out and redone at like $12k extra. Now I'm the one telling young guys the same thing and they look at me exactly how I looked at Ray.
