Poured a slab in Phoenix last July and watched it set up before we could finish the broom finish

We hit 118 that day. I normally check the weather but the forecast said 112, which is bad but manageable if you work fast. Well by 10am the concrete was kicking off way faster than expected. I had two guys trying to keep up with the finishing but it was like trying to smooth out peanut butter. Ended up with a rough patch about 20 feet long that had to get ground down and skim coated the next week. Cost me an extra day and a half of labor plus materials. How do you guys handle extreme heat pours when the forecast is wrong?

Man that's rough, a 6 degree swing from the forecast can wreck your whole schedule. I've started keeping bags of ice and chilled mixing water on the truck when it's that hot, just in case the concrete starts cooking off faster than expected.

Might wanna watch out too, ice can sometimes mess with the water-cement ratio if you're not careful.
