Shoutout to the foreman who told me my taping mud was way too wet on that drywall job last month

He said it was gonna take forever to dry and cause cracks later so I started mixing it thicker and honestly the finish came out way smoother and I saved like 3 hours on the whole job, anyone else get handed a simple tip that totally fixed their routine?

@parker_jones50 nailed it, pudding is the secret. I used to mix mine like soup till a guy set me straight too.

Man I had the exact opposite problem, I once showed up to a job with mud so dry it looked like cottage cheese and the foreman just stared at me like I was trying to glue the drywall together with sand. He handed me a bucket of water and said "mix it till it looks like pudding, not play-doh" and I felt like the biggest idiot on site. Took me like four tries to get the consistency right and my first batch still ended up too thick, had to scrape half of it off while it was still wet. That saved my whole routine though, now I actually know what I'm doing with the stuff instead of just guessing and hoping.
