That electrical chase at the school job took 6 weeks instead of 2

We had to run new conduit through an existing 1970s elementary school near Dayton. The prints said there was a clear path above the drop ceiling, but we hit a concrete beam that wasn't on any drawing. Then the fire alarm loops were buried in the same chase, so we had to reroute around them. Took almost 7 weeks to finish something I budgeted for 10 days. Has anyone else dealt with old school buildings hiding surprises behind ceiling tiles?

Come on, its just old tile and some pipes. Hardly the end of the world.

Oh man, "hiding surprises behind ceiling tiles" is putting it lightly. I had a similar mess in a high school from the 60s where the prints showed a straight shot for data, but half the ceiling was actually a massive return air plenum with no fill plates, then we found abandoned asbestos-wrapped pipe runs that they swore were removed. Ended up cutting in a whole new path through the gym storage room because the conduit wouldn't bend around the old steam lines. Six weeks for what should have been two.
