Unpopular opinion: That older foreman was wrong about using a manual pipe threader over a power one

Had a foreman named Gary on a job in Phoenix tell me to always use a manual threader for 2-inch pipe. Said power ones strip threads and cost time. I listened for 3 months, fighting with that thing in 110 degree heat. Finally bought a Ridgid power threader myself. Got the same 20 joints done in 2 hours instead of 6. Threads held perfect after pressure test. Has anyone else had old timers give advice that just doesn't work anymore?

Bro that's wild because I bet Gary learned on pipes that were way softer than what we get now. Modern steel alloys are harder, the threads cut cleaner with consistent speed from a power head. Manual threading on today's pipe just work hardens the metal if you ain't perfect every time. Plus nobody talks about how a power threader gives you better thread taper control on 2 inch, manual ones can get wonky if you don't keep the dies perfectly aligned.
