33 years in and I finally had to admit the old Kirby Morgan band mask is better than my new neck dam.
Last month up in Port Alberni I got into a bad current with my new neck seal rig and it flooded three times before I gave up and switched back to the old band mask I bought in 2004, and now I'm wondering how many other divers have gone back to older gear after chasing the latest stuff.

I used to be all about the newest gear coming out, figured the technology had to be better, right? Then I took my buddy's vintage double hose regulator on a shallow dive last summer and it breathed so smooth I had to eat my words. It's funny how sometimes they got it right the first time and everything after is just bells and whistles that don't really help.

Not quite right about the double hose thing though @riverm48, they actually breathe way easier when you're swimming face up or on your back because the exhaust sits higher, which is a pain in a standard single hose setup. Still, you're dead on about the general point that old stuff isn't automatically junk just because it's old. I think a lot of us just gotta accept that some gear was built for specific diving and new doesn't always mean better.

Same thing happened with me and an old school heal toe pair. Total game changer.
