Almost lost my mask to a seal failure 60 feet down off Panama City Beach

I was doing a hull inspection on a shrimp boat last Thursday near the jetties. About 20 minutes in I felt this cold trickle on my cheek and realized my mask seal was failing. Quick exhale through my nose to clear it but it kept flooding in small bursts. Had to abort the dive early and surface slow which added 15 minutes to my deco stop. Anyone else carry a backup seal ring or just rely on keeping your face shaved clean?

Honestly, that sounds like a nightmare. Ngl, I had a similar thing happen last year off Destin with a rental mask that just gave up halfway through a reef dive. Tbh, I just keep my face clean shaven now and always carry a tiny tube of silicone grease in a drybag just in case.

carry a tiny tube of silicone grease" - @tyler_fox41, grease degrades silicone seals actually.
