Can we talk about the week a sea lion stole my dive light and I had to finish the job with a glow stick
Last month we were doing a pier inspection in Monterey and about 40 minutes into the first dive a sea lion came out of nowhere and took the light right off my wrist lanyard. Just grabbed it and took off like it was his. My partner laughed so hard he had to surface because he was sucking water through his regulator. I still had 90 feet of visibility and a job to finish, so I pulled out a $3 glow stick from my save-a-dive kit and kept going. The worst part is the second dive that day the same seal came back and bumped my mask like he wanted round two. We got the whole inspection done on time but the report had a note about a stolen light worth 200 bucks. Anyone else get robbed by the wildlife on a job or is Monterey just special?
