Lost $900 on a bad lift bag because I skipped the manual

Bought a 1-ton lift bag off a buddy in Norfolk last fall, used it on a salvage job without checking the relief valve setting, and it blew air fast enough to send my tie-off gear to the bottom, so has anyone else eaten a repair bill just from trusting used gear?
