Lost comms at 90 feet off Galveston, nobody heard my emergency knock
Was doing a pipeline inspection last month off Galveston when my comms box died mid-dive. No topside, no buddy line, just 90 feet of dark water and the sound of my own breathing. I swam to the descent line and gave three sharp knocks on the ladder rung, but the tender never felt it because the current had me swinging. Took 12 agonizing minutes before they noticed my air consumption was flat and pulled me up. Has anyone else had comms fail that deep and how do you signal without a line pull?
