The harbor job last month that made me question my weight belt setup

We were doing hull inspections off Port Angeles and I had to ditch 8 pounds of lead in 40 feet of murky water because my rig shifted wrong on a slack tide, has anyone else switched to a harness-mounted weight system after a close call like that?

My buddy Mike had the exact same thing happen to him two winters ago off the Strait. He was doing a night dive on a wreck and his belt slid right up under his armpits when he kicked off the bottom. He had to dump all his weight in 50 feet of freezing water and shot up like a cork, missed his deco stop by a mile.
