Why does nobody talk about a shot bag anchor dragging in fast current?
Tried a 40 pound shot bag on a river job near Portland last month instead of the usual 75 pound Danforth. It held fine in slack water for about 20 minutes, then the current picked up and it slid across the bottom like a sled. We had to abort the dive and reset twice. My buddy thinks the bag's shape just doesn't bite in anything over 2 knots. Anyone else used shot bags on moving water and had them fail, or is there a trick to rigging them better?

Did that bag have any chain leader on it, or was it just straight rope?
