Why does nobody talk about how much air you waste with a sloppy tool bag?

I was on a salvage job in the Gulf last month, checking my tank way too often. My buddy, who's been diving since the 80s, watched me get ready and just said, 'Your bag looks like a kid's toy box.' He showed me how to pack my tools tight against my body so they don't flap around and create drag. I gained almost 20 minutes of bottom time on the next dive just from that. Anyone else have a simple fix that saved you a ton of air?

My buddy used to kick like crazy until an instructor told him to slow his fins down. He basically doubled his air time after that lol.

Slow his fins down" - yeah that's basically my whole problem summed up. I'm over here doing dolphin kicks like I'm running from a shark @derek99. Meanwhile my air is gone in 15 minutes lol.
