Bike vs bus debate after 2 years of commuting downtown
I spent a year taking the bus from Oak Park into the city, then switched to biking last spring. The bus was reliable but added 25 minutes to my trip with all the stops and transfers. Biking cuts that down to 35 minutes total, but I show up sweaty and have to stash my bike in a cramped office closet. My choice came down to losing the wait time versus losing the comfort. Honestly, I still flip-flop depending on the weather. Anyone else wrestle with this kind of trade off and land on one side?

honestly curious if the sweat thing is really the dealbreaker or if it's more about feeling judged hauling a bike through an office building. i used to bike to a job where the only option was locking it outside and i was way more paranoid about theft than i ever was about being gross. did you look into a gym membership near your office just to shower? that extra stop might eat into your time savings but it could settle the whole comfort argument.

The gym thing works if you find one close enough, I did it for a year and the shower made the whole ride worth it.
