Missed my stop because the bus driver didn't call out the street

I was on the 72 bus this morning near downtown Portland and the driver skipped my stop on Burnside. Had to walk 15 blocks back in the rain. Has anyone else had luck getting drivers to actually announce the stops?

dude that's brutal, especially in the rain. i had the same thing happen on the 15 last winter and it drove me nuts. what finally worked for me was just sitting near the front and making eye contact with the driver a couple stops before mine. then i'd say "hey can you let me know when we get to 28th and albert?" or whatever my stop was. they always remember if you look them in the eye and ask nicely instead of just yelling from the back lol. also some busses here have those little digital signs that show the next stop but they're broken half the time on the older ones. another tip is track the bus on google maps on your phone and set a reminder alert for when you get close. saved me a bunch of times when the driver just zipped right past.

Hugobarnes is spot on. Nobody asks nicely anymore, just yells and wonders why they get ignored.

Oh man, that rain walk is the worst part - did the driver at least apologize or just shrug it off when you told them at your next stop?
