Rant: That guy on the 7:15 bus who loudly explained why bike lanes are stupid

I was heading downtown yesterday morning and this older dude got on, sat near me, and spent the whole 20 minute ride telling his friend how bike lanes are 'just for show' and waste taxpayer money. He said he counted 3 bikes using the new lane on Main Street in an hour. But here's the thing - I've been biking that same route for 6 months because the bus is always late now. The lane's only been open for 2 weeks and they're still painting lines. Has anyone else had to listen to someone trash a transit upgrade that barely got started?

Wait, did he actually count or was he just making stuff up? Cause honestly, bike lanes do kinda feel like they get installed in random spots where nobody rides. I live near a neighborhood where they put in a protected lane last year and I see maybe one bike a day go down it, while cars stack up for blocks trying to get around the concrete barriers. Some of these projects seem more about checking a box than solving actual traffic problems.

Saw a guy at the coffee shop last week ranting about how roundabouts are a communist plot to confuse drivers. He said they just make traffic worse and nobody uses them right. Meanwhile I sat there and watched three cars sail through one without stopping, smooth as butter, while he kept complaining.

Must be a city ordinance that every town gets one guy who hates progress before it even works. At least the roundabout guy got to watch his argument collapse in real time, bet he still blamed the communists.
