The 6am express bus was my enemy until Tuesday morning

I used to HATE the 6am express bus, like genuinely dreaded it every single workday. Way too crowded, always someone eating a loud breakfast, and the WiFi never worked for me. Then Tuesday happened, my car battery died in my apartment garage in Oakland, and I had no choice but to take it. The bus was actually early, I got a seat by the window, and the driver just waved everyone on without checking passes. Two women in the back were quietly passing around a thermos of coffee and offering it to strangers. I got to work 12 minutes faster than when I drive. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I've been wrong about public transit this whole time. Has anyone else had a sudden flip from car loyalist to bus believer? What made you switch?
