The 7:15 express train was so packed this morning a guy's backpack was basically in my face the whole ride to downtown.

Used to hate that, but now I just bring a smaller bag.

Different take here. Yes it's a big deal when someone's bag is basically in your personal space for a whole ride. That's not about being too sensitive, that's about basic courtesy in tight spaces. The bigger issue is people not being aware of their surroundings. If you're carrying a big backpack on a crowded train, take it off and hold it at your feet or between your legs. Takes two seconds and makes a huge difference for everyone around you. Small bag or big bag, doesn't matter, just be considerate with what you're carrying.
