The difference in bus reliability after they changed the route 37 schedule last spring
I ride the 37 bus every morning from Oak Park to downtown. For like 2 years it was always 5 to 10 minutes late. Then back in April they switched the schedule to add an extra 7 minutes of buffer time near the rail crossing on Washington. Now it's on time like 90% of the time. Just a small change but it really smoothed things out. Has anyone else noticed a route getting better after a tweak like that?

Gotta say, I kind of have the opposite experience with the 37. I take it from the south side in the evenings and ever since they added that buffer, it seems like the driver just takes the extra time as permission to go slower. I've been stuck behind a crawling bus way more often now, especially near that rail crossing. My average ride time has actually gone up a little since the change. Maybe it works better going the other direction, but for me it's been a step back.

Huh, I take the 37 from the north side in the mornings and it's been the total opposite for me, feels like we're actually hitting the lights better now instead of racing to catch every red. Maybe it's just one of those routes where the direction you're going makes all the difference.
