Took the express bus on route 42 yesterday and nearly missed my stop

I usually take the local but decided to try express thinking it'd be faster, but the driver skipped three stops without warning because nobody pulled the cord. By the time I realized, I was 10 blocks past where I needed to be and had to walk back in the rain. Has anyone else gotten burned by express routes skipping stops like that?

You might be missing what makes express routes work (kind of their whole thing). The whole point of an express bus is that it skips stops to save time, otherwise it'd just be a local bus with a different number on the front. Pulling the cord early is on the rider, that's basic bus etiquette - you gotta give the driver some notice before your stop comes up. The driver can't read minds or know where everyone wants to get off, especially on a route that's designed to move fast. Sounds like a rough lesson, but now you know for next time to hit that cord a few stops ahead.

Three stops ahead minimum for express routes. Driver needs that extra time to merge across traffic when they're skipping all those other stops. Simple fix for next time.
