Unpopular opinion: The bus here got way better when they reduced the number of stops

I've been taking the #12 bus on Woodland Ave for 5 years, and since they cut 8 stops last March it's been faster and more reliable. Everyone complained at first, but now I get home 12 minutes earlier and the driver doesn't have to slam on the brakes every block. Has anyone else had a route change that actually worked out?

Yeah I read about this in the local paper. They did the same thing on the 7 bus route over on River Street. Cut 10 stops and now it's 15 minutes faster. People were mad but nobody actually used those stops anyway. I think most cities have too many stops per mile honestly. Every time a bus stops, you lose like 30 seconds between the deceleration and the door opening. Adds up fast.

Oh man, this reminds me of when they redid the traffic pattern on that one roundabout near the mall. Everyone was screaming about it on the neighborhood Facebook group for like a month straight. People were saying it would cause accidents and gridlock forever. Then it turned out you could actually get through it without waiting through three light cycles. I think folks just get set in their ways and hate seeing new stuff on their commute. The worst part was watching the same people who fought it now breeze through it like they invented the whole thing.
